A Tom Thomson portray on the Nationwide Gallery of Canada is undamaged after it was splashed with paint by a protester on Tuesday.
Northern River, a 1915 oil on canvas portray by famend Canadian artist Tom Thomson, depicts skinny black bushes partially obscuring a flowing river.
It’s protected by a glazed glass panel and was not harmed in the course of the incident, in response to a Tuesday information launch from the artwork gallery.
In a social media put up, the protest group stated the pink paint smeared throughout the portray’s protecting protecting is washable.
The Ottawa Police Service arrested the protester and charged him with felony mischief. Police are investigating.
The gallery stated it instantly carried out safety protocols in response to the protest and added the portray has been taken out from show for additional analysis.
