
(MONTCLAIR, NJ) — The Montclair State College Galleries publicizes Case Research, a brand new sequence of exhibitions within the Alexander Kasser Theater Instances initiated by Director Megan C. Austin and Curator Jesse Bandler Firestone. New and up to date works by Damien Davis discover Blackness via shapes and symbols – on view from September 1 to December 9, 2022.

“By repeating and collaging a matrix of types that relate to numerous contexts inside the African Diaspora, Davis invitations us to rethink how Blackness is coded and transmitted throughout cultures,” says Firestone. “Deliberately avoiding figuration, these works defy the present pattern of illustration and as an alternative depend on associations, comparisons, and cross cultural evaluation to attach a various panorama of Black identities.”
